New Kids on the Block

My shift at the theatre usually starts between 5 and 5:30 but yesterday I had an unusual 6:15 start.
I had a lot of time to kill so I went to get something to eat.  I was going to get Chinese food but somehow I knew it would probably not be that good and overpriced.  I decided to go to Tartine.  When I got there the line was not that long.  I made a trip to the restroom where I was waiting for a while.  It started to get annoying then all of the sudden I heard the faucet turn on then the door opened and out came a young girl about 10 years old. She was reading a big thick book as she walked out of the bathroom.  It must have been a good book.
I got my macaroon and croissant and walked back to the theatre.   I still had more time to kill so I went to the "parklet" near the theatre.  I chose a seat where I hadn't seen any naked guys sitting and watched the F street cars make their way down Market Street for the evening commute.
In front of me was a  pixie twirling a hula hoop.  She soon tired and retired the hoop against a concrete planter which was right next to me.  " Hi I'm Tinker." she said.
"I'm Tailor"  I replied.  She didn't get the joke.
Then a group of young cute girls who had been shopping sat down at the table near me.  One of them had a large bag of clothing which she just bought.  She started to take the  stuff out of the bag to show her friends.  A hat, and then a t-shirt with the MC5 band photo and logo.  As she took it out she said to her friends "I'm not sure who they are but I'm going to look it up"  I el oh elled.

The Difficulty of Eating Ice Cream

It was my parents 56th wedding anniversary.  My aunt planned a small dinner at a restaurant and invited just a few of their friends.  On one side of the long table were my mom's bridge partners and on the other side were my dad's farming friends.  I was sitting right in the middle next to my uncle.
During the course of the evening the subject of the internment camps came up.  My dad's friend Ray was transferred from Rower, Arkansas to Crystal City, Texas.  Crystal City had German and Italian American internees and they also had ice cream and a beer garden!
"Oh I wanted ice cream!" said my mom who was interned in Poston, Arizona.
When dessert was brought to the table, the servers failed to bring spoons so we all ate our ice cream with forks.  I washed it down with the remains of my Stella.
